The Gulf of Finland U-space project is demonstrating how integrated Air Traffic Management (ATM) and Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) systems safely enable urban air mobility, mixing manned and unmanned aircraft in the same airspace and advanced flights below and above 500 feet.

On 8 October, the GOF U-space consortium will conduct two flying 30-minute demonstrations East of the Finlandia Hall connecting different UTM systems and providing situation awareness in real time to all actors, including the authorities, on the location of the drones and their trajectories.

This U-space project is one of several research projects of the SESAR Joint Undertaking, which has received funding within the framework of the European Union's Connection Europe Facility (CEF) programme under grant agreement SJU/LC/343-CTR.

Tuesday 8 & Wednesday 9 October 2019

Elvira has been equipped with future sensors technologies (radars and LiDARs) which enable driving not only when the lane markings are not visible but also when visibility is low due to fog ahead. Spe-cial sensor techniques dedicated to low visibility operation domains have been developed in the EC-funded DENSE project. In addition, LTE/Pre-5G communication technology is improving situation awareness of the vehicle for communicating with the digital road infrastructure.

Development has been supported by the European H2020 co-funded projects called DENSE (ID: 692449), 5G-MOBIX (ID: 825496) and 5G-DRIVE (ID: 814956). The Elvira remote fog demo is available outside the Finlandia Hall conference centre on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th October during the conference.
